The Molecular and Cellular Biology of Cancer Course (MCBC) was held at the University of Birmingham (UK) for the second year running. The course was organised by Professors E-N Lalani, C Craddock, P Johnson and L Young.
This year’s course, held during 19th to 23rd February, was attended by clinicians and scientists from across the globe. The lectures were delivered by experts, all distinguished within their own field of academia/research. The course programme (PDF).
PMI charity and the Prostate Biology Group (PBG) are committed to encouraging national and international collaboration. PMI was pleased to sponsor three clinical scientists this year and wishes them every success in their research. The following three articles are these students’ views about the MCBC course.
Dr Maciej Salargierski (University of Lodz, Poland) has recently joined the PBG. He is assessing the effects of a cell growth inhibitor) on prostatic cancer cells. Dr Salagierski’s article (PDF) about the MCBC (in Polish).
Dr Rachael Howe (Department of Pathology, Division of Cancer Studies, University of Birmingham) has recently joined the PBG. Dr Howe is working on stem cells and cancer. Dr Howe’s article (PDF) about her experience of the MCBC.
Dr Vishal Bhardwaj (CRUK Clinical Research Fellow, Department of Pathology, Division of Cancer studies, University of Birmingham) is a trainee Urologist and has just started on his PhD exploring the role of a specific membrane protein in prostate cancer. Dr Bhardwaj’s article (PDF) about MCBC.
