Paul Abel ChM FRCSE

Paul Abel is a Professor & Honorary Consultant Urologist currently working at Imperial College London, the Hammersmith Hospital Campus where he has been in clinical and academic practice as a senior member of staff since 1989. He has an accomplished track record with over 100 peer review publications and numerous chapters.
He is co-editor of a seminal text book on prostate cancer (Bridging the Gap). His main interests include the management of advanced prostate cancer and in particular the impact of estrogens on advanced disease in which he is the lead investigator on a UK national study supported by the Medical Research Council Clinical Trials Unit and the Cancer Research-UK Charity.
In addition, he works on developing high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) as a non-invasive (avoiding any need for incisions) modality for the treatment of numerous clinical conditions, in particular cancer.
Paul Abel has been actively involved in training and has co-supervised 26 Higher Degree students through to successful graduation as well as leading urology undergraduate teaching at Imperial. He also contributes though sitting on committees such as the executive of the British Prostate Group and is a co-editor of BioMed Central-Urology.
