About the PMI Charity

Prostate Matters International is a registered charity set up with the primary aim of funding and supporting research into prostate diseases.

Prostate Matters International

Prostate Matters International (PMI) was registered as a charity in December 2004. It was co-founded by Professor E-N Lalani and Mr PD Abel.

Professor E-N Lalani BSc(Hons) MBChB FRCPath PhD FHEA is the Dean of Research and Graduate Studies at The Aga Khan University where he is responsible for developing, leading and overseeing the University's thematic research and graduate programmes across campuses in Karachi, Nairobi, Dar-es-Salaam, Kampala and London .

Mr PD Abel ChM FRCSE is Professor and Honorary Consultant Urologist at Imperial College London and the Hammersmith Hospital.

Professors Abel and Lalani jointly led and developed the Prostate Biology Group (BPG) for over 10 years. They have raised over £3M for research, published over 50 academic papers, co-edited a major book on prostate cancer, supervised over 30 MSc, MD and PhD students and regularly present their work at national and international conferences.
